Mission accomplished! |
I love this photo because it embodies the joy and peace that comes from challenging yourself. Back in the Fall, when I was interning with USA Swimming at the U.S. Olympics Committee, several friends and I hiked Pike's Peak in Colorado (full disclosure: we did take the train down from the top).
We started the climb in the dark, wearing headlamps and eventually made it to the summit, at 14,110 feet, about 7 hours later. Despite the terrible headache I got from altitude sickness, I was still excited to be at the top and so grateful to my friends for keeping me going. How you could not feel exhilarated by that view?
